So we love sharing new finds that makes parenting easier, so we have been using The Hug App, which is completely free toΒ download and use, and have been loving how this app is making this Mumma’s life easier!
What is it?
I like to think of this app as a planning app for my kids whereabouts when they’re not with me. I often need help with transport and care with Mia and Maxi as I am busy with the blog, attending PR events and studying. I often enlist my parents to help or my school mummy friends when it comes to transport and care.
I found prior to the app, I was often chasing my own tail. I would forget to actually ask my parents to help on a certain date and time and was scrambling at the last minute to get them to help (which obviously they were none to please about!) and there would often be various texts back and forth between my school mum group on who can pick up the kids after school – which was time consuming and frustrating!
This app has taken away all the back and forth on details around when you need help transporting the kids or when you need help on care for the kids. All details, time, date, location and which child is sent to the recipient and all located within the app.
How do I use it?
First of all, head to the Apple Store or Google Play and download the app.
You will then be prompted to set up your account, which is easy if you link it to your Facebook account. You will then set up details of your kids as well as key locations like your home, your kids school and anywhere else they frequently are getting picked up and dropped off. You will then need to connect your contacts to The Hug App by requesting them to download the app as well.
In 5 easy steps, your life will be made easier
Step Β 1 – Post a request
Step 2 – Choose between Transport or Care
Step 3 – Choose which child needs the transport or care
Step 4 – Fill out the details like time, date, location and any addition information
Step 5 – Choose who you are going to ask to help
You just wait for your job to be accepted or declined!
What else does the app do?
Some of the other nifty aspects I have found with using the app
- Reminders – the person who is transporting or caring for your child will get a reminder prior to the time they need to look after or pick up your child
- Group contacts – instead of sending a request to each Mum from my school mums group, I can put all of them into one group and send a request to all of them! Whoever comes back accepting my request is the one that will help with my daughter’s school pick up.
- Favourite locations – the most used locations will be saved, saving you the hassle of typing in the address every time
- Google Places – if you’re not exactly sure of the location’s address, you can type in the venue’s name and it should appear automatically with the address details for you to add
- GPS tracking – you can know exactly where your child is with GPS tracking on the person who is transporting or caring for your child. You can see when they get picked up and when they arrive at the final destination. It’s such a cool feature!
- Thank you messages – the app allows you to send a Thank You message to those that have helped in either transporting or caring for your kids.
