I have been using the Ecovacs Deebot 900 now for a month and I have to say – it’s pretty damn amazing! Here I list the reasons why I love it.
1. It works
While it doesn’t completely replace your traditional means of vacuuming, what it does do is ensure you’re not physically vacuuming as much (music to every Mum’s ears!) What I tend to do is put it on during the week, especially if we are out of the house. I just let the Deebot run wild and clean whatever it can. You can also change the settings to Max to suck up anything that needs extra suction – but this does eat into the battery life. I might then do a deep vacuum once a week or fortnight, just to capture any areas the robot doesn’t get to.
2. Sensors to avoid obstacles
The little round thing that pops up on the Deebot is its laser mapping sensors. The robot vacuum cleaner will know when obstacles are in its way and will either slow down so as not to hit it, or avoid it all together. This is great when you have furniture or kids in the way. The Deebot continues doing its cleaning without you having to rush about clearing out everything in its way.
3. It’s QUIET
If you have bubs or toddlers who still have a nap, you know all too well that this is your opportunity to do some housework BUT I definitely don’t do any vacuuming when my 18 month old has a nap because I know it will wake him up. Since having the Deebot, it’s the first time I have had the place being vacuumed without worrying about the noise factor. It is so quiet that it hardly disturbs you if you just want to sit back and relax with a tea and enjoy a book while the place is getting vacuumed.
4. Controlled via the Ecovacs app
Yes! You can control the Deebot via the Ecovacs app. You don’t even need to bend down and push the start button on the Deebot. You can control everything via your phone. Amazing right! The Deebot comes with Wi-Fi connectivity so it can connect to your phone. Once you have finished connecting the Deebot to the app (it’s easy!) you can then press start via the app where the Deebot will create a map of your house including any obstacles in the way. You can see this on the app and every time the Deebot cleans, it will automatically update the map you see on the app. There is also various setting via the app like Continous Clean and Do Not Disturb, that will help in setting up when you want and do not want the Deebot to be vacuuming around the house.
Once the map has been set up, you can also determine via the app what areas of the house you want the Deebot to clean and where to avoid. I don’t let the Deebot go into the bathrooms because the kids usually make such a mess that the floor is often wet. I wouldn’t want to risk damaging the Deebot if the floor is wet.
The best thing is that you can operate the vacuum cleaner remotely! If you have left the house but wanted the Deebot to clean the house, you can do that all via the app even if you a nowhere near the vacuum cleaner.
5. Decent battery life
On a normal setting, the battery will last you around 90 minutes. I think that’s a decent amount of time to do the house. It also only takes 4 hours to recharge to its maximum battery life.
Verdict
Absolutely love! Who really wants to spend pulling out the vacuum cleaner everyday. When you have kids, you know that’s the reality as crumbs, hair and dirt appear in the house on the daily. If that makes your life easier, your house cleaner and does so without disturbing the kids – then it’s an absolute winner for me.
