Please tell me this has happened to you before?! I would like to preface this with the fact that I am a new mum of two and still adjusting to the needs and schedules of two kids when this happened.Β
My 3 year old daughter Mia, goes to preschool on Mondays and Tuesdays and Daddy usually drops her off in the mornings and I am in charge of picking her up in the afternoons.
I also have a 3 month old baby boy who has been a nightmare to get to sleep. We have gone through some pretty rough days and nights and it’s been really hard to cope with sleepless nights as well as raising two kids.
Luckily for me, I have my parents who help when I need it.
I sometimes enlist my Dad to help with the afternoon pick up if I find Maxi needs the afternoon to sleep because he’s had a bad night of sleep.
I usually call or text my Dad and ask if he can do the pick up.
On this particular day I had a terrible night of sleep. Both Maxi and Mia were waking up constantly and if I got an hour or two of sleep. that would be a generous estimate.
Daddy took Mia to preschool and I spent the day trying to catch up on some much needed sleep. As the day went on, I kept on thinking to myself “Thank goodness my Dad is picking up Mia today. I haven’t got the energy to drive or get ready to go out!”
At 5.05pm I get a call from my daughter’s preschool “How far away are you?” Hmmm, my Dad never runs late.
“Hold on, sorry, my Dad is meant to pick up Mia today. I’ll just give him a call and find out how far away he is. I’m so sorry!”
I quickly call my Dad and ask how far away he is.
“What? You never asked me to pick up Mia”
“Dad! I texted you” I hear some muffles as Dad checks his phone
“No texts asking for me to pick up Mia” Argh! I hang up in frustration and quickly check my phone. No text from my end asking my Dad to pick up my daughter! OMG! I quickly call the preschool back, explain to them the mix up and head on over to pick up Mia.
I felt terrible when I saw that Mia was the only child left to be picked up. I didn’t want this confusion to happen again.
Luckily I came across The Hug App. Free to download and free to use.
The Hug App now takes away all the headache of planning who is picking up or dropping off Mia as well as which grandparent is taking care of her when.
The app is used between your family members and/or friends. You enter the details of your children as well as the locations that they frequently need to be dropped off or picked up from.
You then send a request to your family member who needs to look after your child, with all the details like date, time, location of pick up and drop off and which child!
It’s been sooo easy to use between my family now and there’s no more confusion on who is doing the picking up and when. I can look at my app and see the requests that have been accepted and if any has been declined, then I know I have to do the picking up that day.
SO up until now, my 3 year old hasn’t been forgotten again and thanks to The Hug App, I can plan my kids needs much more easily now.
You can download the app via Google Play or App Store here.
