Buying a stroller should be a fun and exciting experience! It can also be mind boggling to know which one to choose. A stroller becomes apart of your everyday life when you have a baby, so you need to be completely happy with what you choose and you have to ensure it suits you and your lifestyle. I’ve been through this very process and now with two kids, I know all too well what I need and don’t need in a stroller. So I wanted to share my tips on buying a stroller and why I chose the Britax Flexx Stroller.
1. Try, try, try!
It’s so important to try as many different strollers as possible. Try driving them, try folding them, try picking it up. The more strollers you try, the more you will feel confident in making the right choice. And it’s super important that YOU do the trying. At the end of the day, you will be the main one pushing the stroller, folding and unfolding it and packing it away in the boot of your car.
2. Go light
There will be plenty of times that you will be going out by yourself with bub either in the car or by public transport. I love how lightweight the Britax Flexx Stroller is. Weighing in at only 10.8kgs, it’s easy to pick up and put it away in the boot of the car. Also if you catch a bus, you usually have to tilt the stroller back to board the bus. If the stroller is too heavy, you have to ask for help to get on the bus. With the Britax Flexx Stroller, I can easily jump on and off the bus without having to ask for help.
3. Master the art of folding and unfolding a stroller
Every stroller has a different way that it folds down and unfolds back up. Some strollers are really convoluted and hard when you have to fold it down and honestly, it can be a really stressful experience when you have a crying baby in the back of the car and there you are trying to figure out how to fold down the stroller. I was pleasantly surprised by how easy it is to fold and unfold the Britax Flexx Stroller. All you have to do is pull a lever and push down a button under the lever and the stroller easily folds down. To unfold, I just have to unclip a clasp on the side of the pram and it immediately unfolds back up. It’s a really quick and easy process!
4. One handed steering is a must
Why do you ask? Because as a Mum you’re either going to be carrying a cup of coffee, your phone or the baby. Being able to steer your stroller easily is a must when you are out and about. The Britax Flexx Stroller is easy to turn and manoeuvre with one hand and it’s also super handy if I’m pushing the stroller and having to hold my toddler’s hand with the other.
5. What about your next child?
Like many parents, you buy a stroller when you are pregnant with your first child, but what about if you plan on having a second child? I know it might be premature to think about that when you haven’t even had your first child yet, but many parents get caught out when they have a second child and realise that they need to get a stroller that carries both children. This ends up being a costly exercise, as you then have to buy another stroller that holds two kids. Luckily with the Britax Flexx Stroller, it can hold both of your kids. All you need to do is buy the tandem pack when baby number two arrives and it attaches to your existing stroller frame and you can continue using your stroller. It’s better value for money as you don’t have to buy another stroller but just a second seat!
6. Extras are sooo handy
Some strollers will come with extras that will make life going out with bub so much easier. The extras that I am absolutely loving in the Britax Flexx Stroller is the large sized basket that can carry up to 12kgs of shopping. But my favourite extra from this stroller is the inbuilt hooks on the handlebars that can carry your nappy bag or extra shopping bags. Having the inbuilt hooks have been fabulous and my nappy bag sits perfectly in it.

This is genius!! I would have loved this when my two were younger. I always hated rummaging around the pram or pushchair for my purse or phone. Such a clever idea.
I wish I had read this before purchasing my pram!!!
When are they going to manufacture a pram that weighs no more than a couple of kilos?
If they can send people to the moon, surely they can manufacture a pram that is easy to lift after giving birth or having a c section!
Just sayin.
Great point hun especially after a c-section! I really struggled with the first pram I bought (that cost $1k+) thinking that the higher price meant it was better all round. Unfortunately I learnt the hard way and got stuck with that heavy pram for years until my second came along.
