Tips to Help your Kids Survive the Allergy Season

Did you know that Australia and New Zealand have among the highest prevalence of allergies in the developed world? 1 in 10 children currently suffer from hayfever in Australia alone. With the Spring/Summer season here, these are our top tips to help alleviate your child from those pesky symptoms:

1. Sleep

Ensure your children get a sufficient amount of sleep. In young children, it is recommended that they should be getting anywhere between ten to twelve hours.

2. Wash hands

Ensure your children are washing their hands to prevent germs from spreading.

3. Time to recoup

If your child has a high temperature and a green runny nose, then let them stay at home to recoup. If you send them to school or day care, it will most likely exacerbate their symptoms.

4. Clean their eyes

Children often rub their nose and then their eyes, and transfer mucus to their eyes in the process. Using cleansing wipes such as Little Eyes will help clean their eyes of possible germs.

5. Natural cough solution

Persistent coughs can stop your child from sleeping well (and the parents as well!). Using a natural cough solution like Little Coughs, can help your child sleep better. Little Coughs contain natural ivy leaf extract to help break down mucus and clear the chest.

6. Nose saline solution

Nothing worse then hearing your child struggling to breathe due to a congested nose. It interrupts their ability to sleep properly and they usually struggle to eat. We swear by Fess Little Noses. We have been using it on our 2 year old since she was a baby and still until now we find it really helps clear her nose and helps her sleep better at night.

7. Plenty of water

Water will help clear your little one’s system of any germs or infection and help them recover quicker as well.
